I have four autoimmune diseases. Among them being Hashimoto's. If I spent the kind of time and attention you give your Hashimoto's, I wouldn't have a life. I take the meds and treatments needed, but I'm not going spend any extra time on it. Yes, I'm in pain every day, but I push it to the back of my head and live my life.

Just got diagnosed. So all those times I couldn't get out of bed and would call in sick was self-care? I have felt so guilty for all my absences and know my coworkers must think I'm lazy. I just started hypo-thyroid medication so I'm hoping I get relief. I have been making diet corrections for decades without knowing why certain foods made me feel so bad.

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's and Graves disease over 20 yrs ago after 10 yrs of battling the medical system for a diagnoses. My Dr put me on Synthroid and Tapazole. They worked relatively well for about 10yrs. Then another Dr told me I needed to get off tapazole. We weaned me off it over 4 months. I actually felt better. Then, during covid, I had a hard time getting Synthroid so I talked to my Dr and we decided to wean me off it. We did this over about 5 months. I have now been med free for over 3 yrs and I feel better. I know I still have Hashimoto's and Graves but for the first time in yrs I dont have all of the body aches and cramps, the headaches, and other symptoms. I have down times but I now am more in tune with my body. Sleep is vital! I am also vegan and gluten free. Staying hydrated is very important. There is hope we just have to find the right combo that works for you.

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's at age 21. At 59, I was also diagnosed with Fibromyalgia a few years ago. I never really realized all the other issues that could arise with Hashimoto's. When the doctor diagnosed me, I was told I just had to take a pill every day and I would be fine!! Other than one incident of Thyroid Storm, I never associated any of my other issues with my autoimmune disease. Since I went through menopause a few years back, I have REALLY noticed a lot of issues!! Both hips and right shoulder have severe osteoarthritis and need replacement. Brain fog can be horrid, with short term memory loss. Cold intolerance...with the occasional hot flash. The HRt really helps regulate temp. Total exhaustion...I work 65hrs weekly as a nurse. On my days off, I need to sleep approx 20hrs to feel the pain in my body decrease. I can't exercise due to the pain in my joints. Stress MURDERS me!! The bf doesn't grasp at all, when I get home after doing multiple consecutive 12hr shifts...he will call me LAZY if I don't wash the dishes!! He really doesn't get it!!

Thanks for sharing. Yes diet is only one piece of this puzzle. We are born delicate beings and way more sensitive to changes and challenges than ordinary robust folk. I'm in SA and little attention is paid to this topic. We have to retreat to our own safe havens when we feel overwhelmed by chaos and find our own stillness to recover and catch our breath. Do NOT do any form of yoga as it messes your religiously aspects making you feel void. It will mess up a good day just as a bad meal.

I have hashimoto s disease since I was 35 years old.I am 76 now but young thinking and usually a happy person when my disease has the correct medicine level of synthroid levolthyxin.Lately I am experiencing all of the harmful symptoms of this disease with no corrective level of medicine change especially my hair and feelings being affected negatively.I can't get the doctor to change this so I am living a life of hell now. When I was first diagnosed Dr. Aronson in Oakville got the correct level and said the levels will need to be readjusted. He was 4 doctors before. Now I get it's okay. Its not.I am so angry they need to get it straightened out.I feel like I am sick of talking to them. I actually cry something I have not done in years.Karen Its too bad they don't have it.

I'm 19 and I started having symptoms around 11. My doctors will not do anything to help me, they want my thyroid to be completely dysfunctional until I get treatment. 4/7 days out of the week I'm so weak I can't sit up without getting super dizzy. It's terrible and I have a life I need and want to live but it's so disrupted by hashimotos.

Diagnosed with Hashimoto’s 44 years ago at age 13, began Synthroid at 18. I’ve only recently started seeing a doctor who was interested in my symptoms and not just whether my numbers were in the normal range. I still don’t truly feel heard by most people, so this video was super helpful. I’m now menopausal and it’s been the hardest time of my life.

I’ve had hashimotos for 30 years, longer, because I was undiagnosed until my goiter was huge, and it stayed huge because of doctors not knowing how to treat it. It turned out that my psychologist did the tests that showed the real problem. the autoimmunity wasn’t completely dealt with until I was put on T3. just having my thyroid produce hormone, whether it’s T1-5, causes the inflammation, so supplementation is very much needed for us, to keep this from happening. I was under weight initially, and each time we increased my doses I gained weight…which was good! I was becoming normal. Then I went on T3, liothyronine, and brought my antibody levels down from 9000! to ~300. I am now 68 and feeling better for a very long time, and now I discovered we can supplement T2, without a doctor’s prescription so hopefully those antibody levels will go down further. BTW I went through chemo last year for a breast cancer that isn’t genetic (many women in my family have it genetically - the BRC gene) and the antibodies totally disappeared for awhile but are coming back. My last test showed them to be 28! I certainly don’t recommend going through chemo to reduce antibody levels!

The only thing that saved me was youtube Doctors. Went on high dose of Vitamin D3 like 100.000iu a day i will do that for 2 months with k2 then i will drop it D3 to 10,000 iu a day and a diet of NO SUGAR Glutin free so no bread or dairy. Now i am almost pain free after 3 weeks. Doctors keep you sick . Vitamin D3 is linked to Thyroid problems
